Firstly, I’ve got a 12 bolt diff; housing flange bolt pattern is…
…and my booster is 9” dia.
Pontiworld (local supplier)
Front Kit
Rear Kit
Comes to a total of ~ $2,330 delivered (remember his prices don’t include GST)!
Summit Racing
Comes to a total of ~ $1,780 delivered (if I have to pay GST).
$550 difference pays for a lot of cock-ups if they happen…

So... with the rear brake shoes beyond cactus and at least one rear drum
badly scored, my calcs says the damage is $400+ from Pontiworld.
Talk me out of buying something like this...

Rear Brakes are Cactus
The Chev had started to develop a bit of a grinding noise under braking; time to check the brakes.
Fronts were fine...
The rears? Not so fine... aka gawwwwn!
Nice cracking across the shoe material and juuust about worn to the rivets.
Rear Left was the worst. Brake material worn down, past the rivets so deep scoring to the drum and brake material coming away from the shoe backing...
Urgh!
Time for new rear brake shoes and drums!

Rear Seat Belts
So I got these from Car Parts Discount (via my part-time dealer from Wichita, KS - thanks Andy!)...
...and set to work...
In a past life, there were belts installed in the rear of the Impala, but only the brackets remained.
This shot shows under the rear seat base (removed) with the existing bracket on the right of the photo and the left side already removed...
Dodgy photo showing the spacer block under the belt bracket to keep the webbing from being crushed against the floor pan...
And another dodgy photo showing the large diameter washer under the car to distribute the force...
Done!

Something new
A new cars + coffee meeting for Sydney at the Blaxland Riverside Park Park car park and the nearby Armory Wharf Cafe meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month @ 07:30 AM to 09:30 AM.
Rob and I thought we'd check it out...
Early days so not much of a turn-out, plus threatening skies may well have scared people away, but a really friendly bunch of guys!
Hopefully this is a meet that will grow.
